Rubbermaid Microwave Bowls!

Rubbermaid Microwave Bowls Questions

microwave bought the farm?

my daughter cooked bacon in the microwave yesterday on one of those plastic microwave bacon plates, the ones designed for this purpose…absolutely no metal whatsoever…..it started throwing sparks and the glass plate that you put your food on in the microwave now has a burned mark on it…..like it had been struck by lightning….the glass is not broken or cracked in any way however today when i tried to use it i had run it for no more than about ten seconds with some plain green beans in a rubbermaid bowl and it started throwing sparks again….anyone got any idea of whats going on with it?….is it just shot out?….its in our office and is used daily and we have had it for about 3 years but i would think that with the normal use it gets it would have lasted longer…..should i not use it?

Sounds like a fire waiting to happen…….PITCH IT!!! And cut the cord as close to the unit as you can, so no one can “rewire” it and possibly burn their house down in the process…….

Target and WallyWorld have great prices on microwaves, and I’m talking like 40 bucks for a basic one…….Unless you NEED all the “bells and whistles”, a basic one (does anybody cook with those things???) will suit you just fine…..Although I don’t “cook” per se with a microwave, they’re great for boiling water, reheating things, QUESADILLAS (OK, the one thing I actually cook in there) melting butter/chocolate, they’re great…..

Sparks mean that the magnatron tube is just about shot……I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND *****NOT***** USING THIS UNIT AGAIN….REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY…..You surely don’t want to risk a fire, do you???

Christopher
